National Family Justice Association (NFJA)
In the Media
We have excellent news to report regarding the efforts of the NFJA team. We are here working for you and the cause. We want to keep you informed about what we are doing to help effect positive change for families.
NFJA made its public debut on Oct. 10, 2003, but through hard work, we have already appeared on national television, in local and national print media, and radio to bring our message about the urgent need for family justice to the general public.
We need to reach the masses and raise public awareness of our plight in order for there to be positive reform for our families and children. One good way to raise awareness is through information disseminated through the media. Therefore, this is an area in which we are working diligently, and with success.
On November 19, 2003, the National Family Justice Association made its primetime national television debut on The Fox Report with Shepard Smith on the Fox News Channel!
Carnell Smith, NFJA executive director, was interviewed regarding the "Former Army Paratrooper Faces paternity fraud on Nov. 18" story. In the Fox News Channel report there was footage shown of Carnell Smith standing beside Rep. Watson while the Georgia governor signed an anti-paternity fraud bill into law on May 9, 2002.
Information about the former paratrooper story can be read at:

This NFJA release was also posted by ancpr.org and mensnewsdaily.com. Thanks to ANCPR and Men's News Daily for covering this. Our thanks go to the Fox News Channel for covering the important issue of paternity fraud. We're sure that many people who had no idea that this kind of injustice occurs now know that this is happening nationwide.

On Oct. 23, 2003 Dianna Thompson, NFJA co-founder and NFJA Director of Public Policy, very successfully appeared on WAAM radio, Ann Arbor, Michigan, to discuss child support and family issues.
On October 26, 2003, NFJA co-founders, Dianna Thompson and Murray Davis, NFJA Vice President, had their article, titled Child support system doesn't give parents a chance Rather than shame for pressed parents, how about help? published in the Michigan capital's Lansing State Journal newspaper. This article was written in response to Michigan's aggressive campaign against so-called "deadbeat parents."
A quote from Murray's and Dianna's article follows:
"Society holds non-custodial parents, mostly fathers, to an unattainable standard to never become physically or mentally ill, never get disabled, and to never lose a job or get laid off in a poor economy."

On November 2, 2003, NFJA executive director and co-founder, Carnell Smith, appeared with other wonderful guests on Glenn Sack's excellent radio show, His Side with Glenn Sacks, to discuss paternity fraud and the military.
From www.hisside.com:
"His Side with Glenn Sacks is a nationally-syndicated men's and fathers' issues radio talk show hosted by columnist and commentator Glenn Sacks on KMPC 1540 AM in Los Angeles at 9pm and KKOL 1300 AM in Seattle/Tacoma at 11 PM every Sunday evening."
Our thanks goes to Glenn Sacks for this opportunity and for his continuing efforts for the cause!
On October 30, 2003, NFJA Vice-president and co-founder, Murray Davis, had an op-ed article published in the Garden City Observer. The article was titled, State tackles child support'crisis' with erroneous data"

Two of NFJA's board members and co-founders, Carnell Smith and Dianna Thompson, are quoted in the December 2003 issue of Men's Journal, which was found on newsstands nationwide!!!
From www.mensjournal.com, page 94:
"Are You Sure You're the Real Father?
Accessible DNA testing has made possible a 21st-century predicament: Increasing numbers of men are finding out that they're not the biological fathers of children they always thought were theirs -- and often there's nothing they can do about it. BY PAIGE WILLIAMS"
Please let the editor know that you appreciate their coverage of this issue.
On November 24, 2003 Carnell Smith appeared on a powerful radio station (WVEE- FM--V103) whose broadcast area reaches into a large portion of the state of Georgia. The topic was paternity fraud, and the Men's Journal article was discussed. Carnell has been invited back to the show.
On December 8, 2003 an article ran in a large Nevada daily newspaper, the Las Vegas Journal-Review, quoting Murray Davis, NFJA's Vice President. The title of the article is: Movement targets `paternity fraud'.
In Nevada and elsewhere, man pays child support even if DNA shows he's not father
The article can be read at:

On December 14, 2003, Dianna Thompson appeared on His Side with Glenn Sacks to discuss the "Second Wives Movement."
And, we are grateful that we've already started 2004 off with excellent forward momentum! Already, we have our first media item for the new year in the Michigan print media. Please see the following URL for Murray Davis's quote in the article titled, "Child support payers to see fee increase":

We plan to keep the forward momentum going and to keep on helping to raise public awareness of our cause and our collective issues. Increased public awareness is a first step that can lead to positive change for all of us and our families.
Stay tuned. There is much more in the works and much more to come! Please keep checking the Press Release or the NFJA in the Media sections on the NFJA website (www.NFJA.org) to see updates of NFJA in the news.
Your support will be greatly appreciated in order for us to keep the forward momentum going. Thank you to all who have joined with us as members or made donations, and thank you in advance to all who will become members or donate to the cause.
Let's keep going!!!
What you can do today
This is a call for Unity.
To raise public awareness of the plight of today's families, and to further the cause, we need to gather large numbers of us together. Remember there are potentially millions of us who are in similar situations. We need to join together to become a powerful voice for our cause. We also need to be able to communicate important action items and information. Therefore, would you please help us to accomplish these 2 easy items:
1. Would you please tell 5 other people about the NFJA e-mail mailing list and ask them to sign up for it at www.NFJA.org?
This way NFJA can continue to communicate important updates and information to a growing number of mailing list subscribers.
2. Become a member of NFJA and support NFJA's work for families and the cause.
Visit www.NFJA.org for how to join. Donations are welcomed.
Would you please circulate the information provided in this message to all groups or individuals you believe will be interested?
Thanks for your help. Together we can make a difference. This is just the beginning... let's keep the forward momentum going!!
